Last year I imported a Q-Tech prepared R80 GS Basic. It's got all the goodies, 1043 cc, 320 camshaft, dual ignition, 10.3 compression ratio etc. And did that bike "kling"....
I tried all mentioned ideas, adjusted everything right to the very point. Nothing helped!!!
During the passed winter, I replaced all plugscaps and plugleads. The top plug had the original metalcovered caps, whereas the bottom had NGK caps. They are all now replaced but cheap plugwires and new caps.
And the pinging is gone!!! The bike runs the way I expect it to, and it is wonderful, loads of power everywhere!!!
I've tried to isolate the problem but there's no way to find a faulty lead or plug by using and ohm-meter.
Just want to spread my experiences!!
